The first game of the season saw Lovat soar past Kinlochshiel with ease, thrashing the travelling side 5-0. By half time Lovat had secured a comfortable 3-0 lead through a star performance from Marc MacLachlan, who bagged his first hat-trick of the season with goals coming in the 25th, 27th and 35th minute. Greg Matheson joined in on the frenzy netting in the 65th minute before MacLachlan secured his double brace in the 82nd.
Underdogs Kilmallie grasped an unexpected 2-0 victory at the Eilan over current Mowi Premiership holders Newtonmore, with goals coming from Daniel Stewart in the 30th minute, and Liam Cameron in the 44th.
The newly promoted Cool side claimed revenge on Newtonmore after losing in last year’s Camanachd Cup semi-final which saw the Badenoch side narrowly win on penalties.
